The Morrison Government has provided $3.5 million to support the establishment of a Holocaust Museum and Education Centre in Queensland.
I made the announcement alongside Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies President Paul Myers, Vice-President Jason Steinberg and Holocaust survivor Peter Baruch. It’s a cause that Ministers Dan Tehan, Josh Frydenberg and I are passionate about. Each year Peter tells his remarkable story to thousands of Queensland school children. The establishment of a Holocaust Museum will ensure that Peter’s story and the stories of other Holocaust survivors can be accessed by generations of Queenslanders. By learning about the past, we can help ensure this tragedy is never repeated, and build a more tolerant society.
