Staff and students at Brisbane’s Ohana College will benefit from new classrooms, administration spaces, library and information technology room and covered outdoor learning areas, funded as part of the Morrison Government’s Capital Grants Program.
Assistant Minister to the Attorney-General, Assistant Minister for Industrial Relations and Assistant Minister for Women, Senator for Queensland Amanda Stoker said the Federal Government is providing Ohana College in Parkinson with $4,000,000 towards the project.
“Ohana College has a wonderful school community, and these new facilities will further enhance their learning environment,” Senator Stoker said.
“Students and staff will benefit from the construction of eight classrooms, nine withdrawal rooms, administration areas including four offices, counselling rooms, a reception area, and other staff facilities.
“The work will also provide for a new covered outdoor learning area, a communications room, staff and student amenities including for those with disabilites, a first aid room and library, as well as a new IT support room.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities. That’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has helped schools across the nation to build new and updated infrastructure.
“Our Government is ensuring that every child gets a high-quality education no matter where they go to school. We are providing a record $315.2 billion for all Australian schools between 2018 and 2029.
“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes, as recommended by David Gonski in the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools.
“I congratulate Ohana College on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new facilities will have on the local school community.”
