About Amanda
Like you, Amanda loves her country. She especially loves Queensland's Redlands.
Representing our great state of Queensland in parliament is an honour second only to being wife to her husband Adam and mum to her three girls.
An active member of the Liberal Party since the age of 19, Amanda is no stranger to politics.
Daughter to a plumber and a shop assistant, she’s no stranger to hard work either.
After studying arts and law at Sydney University on scholarship (whilst working four part-time jobs), Amanda worked for Minter Ellison before moving on to be associate to Justice Ian Callinan AC QC on the High Court of Australia and Justice Philip McMurdo on the Supreme Court of Queensland’s commercial list.
Following a stint prosecuting for the Commonwealth in Brisbane and Townsville, she joined the private bar and practised in commercial law, administrative law and corporate crime as a member of Level Twenty Seven Chambers.
Whilst at the bar, Amanda taught across a range of subjects at Central Queensland University’s School of Business and Law.
In 2018 Amanda was appointed to the Australian Senate. In December 2020 the Prime Minister appointed Amanda as the Assistant Minister to the Attorney-General, later adding Industrial Relations and Women to her responsibilities.
Amanda was the chair of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee of the Senate, and deputy chair of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee. She was a member of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security. She was also a former chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Law Enforcement Integrity and a former member of the Finance and Public Administration Committee, and the Economics Committee of the Senate, along with a number of Select Committees.
After her time in the Senate, Amanda worked as a company director and hosted a television program on Sky News Australia about politics and policy reform.
In 2023 the LNP selected Amanda to represent her local community as candidate for Oodgeroo, taking in the Cleveland district of the Redlands and North Stradbroke Island. She loves listening to Redlanders, celebrating their wins and advocating for their needs.
In October 2024 she was elected to the Queensland Parliament and was appointed Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training.
Amanda is passionate about helping Queenslanders of all walks of life to get ahead. That's why she spends her time working to improve the Queensland economy, make it a great place to do business, have a career and to prosper.
